Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS)

What is the EBRS and how will it be applied to my bill?
The recently announced EBRS Government discount will be applied to your energy bills from 01/10/2022 to 31/03/2023. It is directly deducted from your chosen suppliers bill each month. This will happen automatically, you do not need to apply.

How is this discount calculated?
The discount is the difference between the Government supported price, 21.1p per kWh for electricity and 7.5p per kWh for gas, and the relevant wholesale price for the day the contract was agreed. The Government will be publishing the wholesale prices they will use for calculating this each day.
Example: the wholesale cost on the day the contract was signed was 40p kWh – 21.1p kWh government support price = 18.9p kWh EBRS Government discount applied to your bill.

Please Note
It’s important to know that the wholesale cost of energy only accounts for a proportion of your total unit rate charge from the supplier. The rest is made up of distribution costs, operation costs, levies etc
As the government will be publishing the wholesale cost each day, this discount is exactly the same for everyone, no matter what supplier or contract term you choose.
